Keep an eye on length while you write, whether it's a short post, a form answer or a long essay.
Whether you're trimming a cover letter to fit an application box, writing a product description, checking an essay against its word limit or drafting a post, the Character counter gives you the numbers as you type. It counts characters with and without spaces, words, sentences, paragraphs, lines and bytes, and it estimates how long the text takes to read and to say out loud.
Before you start cutting, check how your limit is measured. Some limits count spaces and some don't, essays usually go by words, and software or databases sometimes cap text in bytes, where letters outside basic English take more than one byte each. The built-in "How it fits" panel checks your text against common limits for posts, captions, video titles and search snippets, and your text is kept in this browser, so a refresh doesn't lose it.
