How to use it
- Click "Choose a file" or drop the PDF you want to number.
- Pick a "Position", such as Bottom center, and a "Style": 1, 1 / 10 or - 1 -.

- Click "Add page numbers" and download the numbered PDF.
What it does
Five positions
Bottom left, center or right, or top center or right, to match the layout of your document.
Three styles
A plain number, "1 / 10" with the page count, or "- 1 -" with dashes on both sides.
Skip the cover
Leave the first page unnumbered and start numbering from the second page.
Any starting number
Start at 5, 21 or any number if the document continues an earlier part.
No upload
Your PDF is processed on your device and never sent anywhere.
Good to know
Page numbers make long documents easy to print, sort and discuss: everyone can turn to the same page. After combining files with Merge PDF, adding page numbers turns them into one tidy report.
Numbers are written in a standard PDF font, small, in the page margin and a fixed distance from the edge. If your document has almost no margin, check the preview and move them if they overlap content. Rotated pages are numbered the way they appear on screen.
Questions and answers
Is adding page numbers free?
Yes. It works right in your browser with no sign-up or install.
How do I leave the cover page without a number?
Turn on "Skip the first page (cover)". Numbering then starts on the second page, still from your starting number.
Can it show the total, like 1 / 10?
Yes. Choose the "1 / 10" style and every page shows its number and the page count.
The numbers overlap my text.
Watch the preview and move them to another corner or the top, or choose a smaller text size.
Can I add words like "Page 1"?
Not yet. The styles are a plain number, "1 / 10" and "- 1 -".
