Convert to

Transparent areas become white in JPG.

Files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Add PNG files by clicking "Choose files" or dragging them onto the page.
  2. WebP is selected under "Convert to"; set "Quality" (it starts at 90) and click "Convert".
  3. Download the WebP files one at a time, or all together with "Download all (ZIP)".

Good to know

PNG is ideal for logos, icons and screenshots, but because it's lossless, files can get heavy, and heavy images slow pages down. WebP, developed by Google for the web, typically gives smaller files than PNG at similar quality and supports transparency too, so a logo with a see-through background keeps it after conversion.

Use the "Quality" slider to balance size and sharpness: the default of 90 is a sensible start for graphics with text, and photos can usually go lower. Keep your original PNG files, since some older apps can't open WebP and you may want to edit the PNG later. If you're tidying up a whole site, Compress image can also turn PNG into WebP and cap the width in the same step.

Questions and answers

Does WebP keep the transparency from my PNG?

Yes. WebP supports transparency, so transparent areas in your PNG stay transparent.

How much smaller will my images be?

It depends on the image. WebP is generally smaller than PNG at similar quality, and lowering "Quality" reduces the size further.

Will WebP images work everywhere?

Current browsers display WebP, but some older apps can't open it. Keep the PNG originals for editing or for software that needs them.
