Transparent areas become white in JPG.

Files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Drop your .webp files onto the page, or click "Choose files" to find them.
  2. Leave "Convert to" on JPG, set the "Quality" you want and click "Convert".
  3. Save the result with "Download", or grab everything at once with "Download all (ZIP)".

Good to know

WebP is an image format created by Google for the web. Sites use it because it produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar quality, so a picture you save from a page often arrives as a .webp file. The catch is that some older apps, photo editors and upload forms can't open WebP, while JPG is accepted almost everywhere.

Two things to know before you convert. JPG has no transparency, so any transparent background in the WebP image is filled with white; if you need to keep it, convert WebP to PNG instead. And animated WebP files are converted from their first frame only, giving you a still picture.

Questions and answers

Why do images save as WebP?

Many websites serve their images as WebP because the files are smaller than JPG or PNG at similar quality. When you save one, you get the format the site delivered.

Will converting WebP to JPG lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so some fine detail can be lost. The "Quality" slider, set to 90 by default, lets you favor detail or a smaller file.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

They become white, because JPG can't store transparency. Use the WebP to PNG page if you need to keep them.

Can I convert animated WebP files?

Only the first frame is converted, so you get a single still JPG.
